Movie Review: Battleship

I'm always a sucker for humans vs aliens movie!  Ever since I saw the trailer for Battleship early this year, I already have it on my movie date cross-hairs since.

Alex Hopper is a slacker, who, after falling head over heels with the daughter of an admiral's daughter found himself serving in the U.S. Navy.  Unfortunately, his arrogance and headstrong personality always got him into trouble and is in the verge of being booted out of the navy, that is until bad ass aliens decides to pay Earth a visit.  He is then put in the position of thwarting the alien invasion with a band of brave navy officers.

Taylor Kitsch stars as Lt. Alex Hopper, Alexander Skarsgard is Alex's older brother Stone, Liam Neeson as Admiral Shane, Rihanna (making her motion-picture debut) as Petty Officer Second Class Cora Raikes, and playing Alex's love interest is Brooklyn Decker as Sam Shane.  

Of course, in the battle between humans vs. aliens the ending is quite obvious.  There has been a lot of this plot in the past to second guess it's inevitable ending.  Still, it was a suspenseful in terms of trying to figure out who among the protagonists would survive.  (I definitely wanted Brooklyn Decker to survive.)  The battle sequences  had great effects.  The alien weaponry were deadly!  No laser beams this time but multiple bomb launchers and an intelligent wheel that seemed to go forever.  Fortunately for the humans the aliens had a poor choice in weapons use because that devastating wheel could have ended the human resistance in an instant. (Obviously, the writer wanted a longer movie.)  

Oh, did I already mention that Brooklyn Decker was part of the movie?  Well, she's really drop dead gorgeous!  If this movie needed a saving grace, I'd say she's the one!

Rihanna In Traffic Mishap And Chris Brown Arrested

Rumours are spreading since the singer Chris Brown was arrested by police and then released on bail following an alleged domestic violence incident.

Rihanna, Chris Brown's girlfriend, pulled out of yesterday's Grammys and so conclusions are being speculated.

Was it Rihanna who was allegedly assaulted? Police will not answer this directly and will only say, "The identity of the victim will not be released. Any victim who's involved in a domestic violence incident is entitled to confidentiality."

What the police will confirm is that Brown, "became involved in an argument. After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated. The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."

Rihanna's people say that she had been involved in a traffic mishap but was 'fine'.
