Miss New Jersey Keeps Her Title Despite Racy Photos

Well thank goodness for that! Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, can keep her title despite those so called racy photos. The Pageant Board made the right decision and, as I said yesterday, the whole blackmail thing was blown up out of all proportion.

Amy Polumbo said, "I'm very happy about this decision, and I look forward to resuming my agenda as Miss New Jersey." She went on to say the sickly statement, "I want to thank the public. I also want to thank God for getting me through this."

Hopefully the story will now rumble away into the distance.

What was the fuss all about? Some of the photos of Amy Polumbo, Miss New Jersey, with which she was supposedly being blackmailed have been released. Here are the 'worst' two photos so you can judge for yourself.



Surely these are simply photos of Amy Polumbo behaving like any normal young woman. She's having a laugh and fun with friends. How could anyone possibly blackmail her with these? I suppose they may be considered a little embarrassing but they weren't meant for general public consumption.

Even if there were captions attached, she didn't do these herself. And remember the photos above are the 'worst' photos. What's that expression about making a mountain out of a molehill?

Still, there's been plenty of publicity and it's said all publicity is good publicity. Enough said.

Amy Polumbo Photos And Captions

Further to our previous posts on Amy Polumbo: Amy Polumbo Facebook Photos And Video and Miss New Jersey Amy Polumbo Blackmail Photos she has been talking on NBC's Today show.

Ms. Polumbo insists that the photos in question do not show nudity, pornography or under age drinking. She said "I am not doing anything illegal in the pictures."

About whoever sent the photos she says, "Whoever this is, I think they're a very miserable person and I really feel bad for them." She has no idea who the photo sender is but doesn't rule out that it may just be another Miss New Jersey contestant.

As we said in our last post on this subject it is now believed that it is captions attached to the photos that is the problem more than the actual pictures themselves.

It really does seem to be a bit of a storm in a teacup. If the photos are decent what does it matter what the captions might say?

Miss New Jersey, Amy Polumbo, Blackmail Photos

As you can see from the front pages of a couple of U.S. tabloids shown below Amy Polumbo, the current Miss New Jersey, is big news. There she is with a big smile and wearing a red bikini.

Why is she news? After all she's just another pretty girl.

It's because Amy Polumbo claims that someone is using photographs she posted on the Internet to try to force her to give up her crown.

"Photos?" you may ask.

Yes photos. 22-year-old Amy said she received copies of between six and 12 of her photos in the mail on June 25 with a letter threatening to make them public unless she gives up her crown to the pageant's first runner-up.

"They must be some hot photos," you may assume.

Appears not. Her attorney, Anthony R. Caruso, would not describe the photos, except to say that they aren't lewd. They are pictures Amy Polumbo posted in a private section of an Internet photo-sharing site so her friends and family could see them.

Okay, if they are not lewd what's the problem? How can anyone blackmail her over photos suitable for friends and family?

Even Amy's aunt, Cathy Capper, reckons that the photos are not at all revealing. She said her niece appeared in less clothing during the Miss New Jersey pageant when she won her title.

If all of this is true, about the photos, it's difficult to understand what all of the fuss is about. Let the guy (or girl) publish the photos if there is nothing to fear. Think of the publicity - ah, publicity ...
