After being ill for several months the 79 year old British actor Edward Woodward died at the Royal Cornwall hospital in Truro. His family were with him. He is survived by his wife Michele Dotrice and four children.

It looks as if Amy Winehouse will remain in hospital for a second night following 'a bad reaction to some cold medication'.

Belle de Jour
The Belle de Jour blogger, who told of her life a prostitute from 2003 to late 2004, has been named as Dr Brooke Magnanti. She is currently working at The Bristol Initiative for Research of Child Health. Her experiences were made into a television series The Secret Diary of a Call Girl and starred Billie Piper.

Angelina Jolie Tells How She Got Pregnant

Angelina Jolie has said that her latest movie, Changeling, left her pregnant with twins. She reckons that the emotion of her part, as a desperate mother, led her to motherhood in real life.

Angelina said, "I got pregnant right in the middle of it (the film) and, I think, partially because of it. I was so emotional about children that I think something kicked into gear."

Or there again perhaps she just had unprotected sex.

An apology has been made on behalf of Katy Perry for the photograph showing her posing with a knife. Her publicist said, "The photo in question was taken in 2005 and is in no way related to the current events in the UK." So that makes the glorification of the knife culture okay then. Why didn't the publicist simply stop the photo being published in the first place? Ah, controversy and publicity - of course.

The Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to return to the theatre. She will star as Cleo in a period drama to be directed by Steven Soderbergh. This is a retelling of Cleopatra and Antony but set in the 1920's.

The Sun newspaper seems to think The Smiths may reunite for the Coachella music festival. This is despite Morrissey as having said, "I'd rather eat my own testicles than reform The Smiths - and that's saying something coming from a vegetarian." Gossip is that George Clooney is favourite to star in a remake of Hitchcock's classic film The Birds. he looks set to play the part of lawyer Mitch Brenner.
