18 year old Pixie Lott has shot to the top of the UK charts with her first single Mama Do.
She's the first non reality show British female to go straight to number one (the reality females were Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke).
How did Pixie Lott find fame? She answered an ad four years ago in The Stage newspaper wanting the 'Next Pop Diva'. She impressed at the audition and has now signed with the management team who look after Black Eyed Peas and The Fugees. Ironically Pixie replaced Black Eyed Peas as number one in the charts.
Pixie's real name is Victoria, her mother called her that because she was a 'tiny, cute baby'. Ahhh!Pixie said about her music, "What's good is that my music is different from everyone else's. It's got the soul element, like Duffy, but it's not very retro. It's a contemporary, pop, fresh sound. That's what makes it different."
Her next few months will be quite hectic. She's touring with The Saturdays and The Script and there will then be trips to Australia, Asia and the USA (where she has signed with the Interscope label.
The first Pixie Lott album will be released in September.
She was born 12 January 1991 in Kent and now lives in Essex with her parents.
