The replacement for Carol Vorderman on Countdown has been named. She is Rachel Riley, age 22, and she says this is her dream job as she is a massive fan of the programme.Guess she would have to say that! Though she did add, "I've had the Countdown theme-tune as my mobile phone ringtone for years."
Rachel is an Oxford maths graduate and is said to have an easy going nature as well as the maths skills required. It is believed that she will earn in the region of £100,000 as against Carol's £800,000. Quite a saving in these recession hit times.
It's a real makeover for Countdown as there will be a new main presenter in Jeff Stelling who has a Sky Sports background.
