The acid tongued Arlene said about John, "I would be desolate if he won. The criteria that the four judges were hired on, six series ago, was to find the best possible dancer to become Strictly Come Dancing champion. I personally would like to see him off the show because despite getting through a dance, probably for the first time mostly in time to the music, he is not the same standard everyone else has reached."
I find it quite funny!
The judges think they can slag off anyone, insult some contestants and still get their own way.
They seem to forget that:
(1) The producers asked John Sergeant to be a contestant. But, of course, things aren't going to their liking. They wanted someone to make fun of and for him to make a fool of himself. And to go in the first or second round. He was supposed to be the novelty patsy.
(2) You can't insult the public (who indirectly pay the judges wages through the television licence) and expect no retaliation.
(3) You have to abide by the rules.
We all know John can't dance but he's better value than some of the intense contestants who see this as a desperate opportunity to resurrect their sagging careers.
The show is supposed to be fun and entertaining - and it is, thanks to John.
Vote for John I say.
